Who moved my cheese?

Who Moved My Cheese, a book by Spencer Johnson

Note ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

The book uses a fable to convey an incredible message of change, adaptation and how to deal with life's uncertainties. The story revolves around four characters, the two little men: Hem, Haw and two mice Sniff and Scurry.

Everyone lives in a maze in the constant search for the symbol of success and happiness, finding the best cheese in the maze. Throughout the individual and collective journey of the characters we learned great lessons, which I will talk about in this post.

  • Adapt quickly to changes: Two of the characters, Hem and Haw, initially refuse to accept the change in the environment by continuing to look for cheese in the same place. Where clearly they wouldn't find it anymore. Here we learn that resisting change can harm an entire trajectory in our lives. It is essential, especially nowadays, to be open and willing to adapt to changes that occur in the professional, business, technology and circumstances of our lives.

  • Monitor changes: The characters Sniff and Scurry were extremely agile in noticing changes in the environment and began looking for new alternatives immediately. This highlights how much we must pay close attention to the changes that are happening and prepare to act in the face of them.

  • Accept reality and move on: Haw overcomes his fear and decides to look for new cheese options in other aisles. Even though he was scared, he knew that staying in the same place would change absolutely nothing in his situation and so he understood that facing reality is crucial to achieving new success. In life it is important to accept that situations change and that we need to act to find new solutions.

  • Don't get stuck in the past: Hem remains adamant about seeking out new cheese options and becomes a prisoner of nostalgia. Despite being bad, he remains in the illusion of false hope that things can go back to the way they were before. I highlight that attachment to what we have already experienced prevents us from continuing to grow, evolve and find a new way to adapt. If you have a business, it is essential to abandon outdated methods and adopt more modern approaches.

  • Be proactive in finding solutions: Haw decided to head into the unknown through the corridors in search of the best cheese in that maze. Showing us the importance of being proactive in the search for new options and not just waiting for the best cheese to fall from the sky. Constantly seek opportunities for innovation, improvement and improvement.

  • Enjoy the achievements, but be prepared for new changes: Haw finally found an aisle with a supply of cheese he had never seen before, but with the new learning he recognizes that there may be a new phase of change and begins monitoring the stock regularly . Celebrate achievements, but be aware and prepared to adapt to new challenges, because they will come.

  • Act courageously and face fears: Haw faced his fears, insecurities, and uncertainties on his journey. Even so, he went, highlighting the importance of acting with courage and determination, even in the face of uncertainty and risks. Make bold decisions and take calculated risks, this can lead to positive results.

  • Change is constant: The story emphasizes that a constant in life is change. Therefore, it is essential to develop a flexible and adaptable mindset to deal with different situations that arise over time.

All these lessons that can be applied both in our lives and in business are really great lessons to take with us in our development baggage. Because, according to my sister Emily, we can act as each character in different situations or we can go through each of the stages of learning throughout life.

The narrative addresses the importance of adaptation, courage in the face of change and how to overcome obstacles that arise throughout our personal and professional journey. Spencer inspires us to embrace change as something positive and conducive to our growth. Face our fears and seek opportunities in constantly changing environments.
